Project Info

The idea for "Dunes" came from the Frank Herbert novel Dune. I get comments all the time about my last name being Harkonen, the main antagonist from the novel, so I figured I would embrace it. Aside from the theme that's really as far as the connection goes.
The character centerpiece of this work is a girl named Thesia. She lives in the far future where the earth was ravaged by a terraforming attempt at repairing the global ecosystem that went wrong. Now much of the planet is a sandy desert. The planet is aslo occupied by a collection of monsterous collosi who have been mercilessly hunting down what remains of humanity for the past 1000 years. Thesia is one of the bio-engineered warriors, called guardians, who fight back against the collosi.
